Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Cinematic Lighting Showreel

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Cinematic Lighting Showreel

I had the pleasure of lighting multiple cinematics in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Many of the cinematics in Metropolis can take place at any time of day, as a result this required cinematics to have multiple lighting passes.

All cinematics were lit on a shot per shot basis for all times of day, no automated rigs were used for cinematic lighting. We had the ability to override most parameters in the weather to allow us to make the characters look as good as possible for all times of day.

This video showcases cinematics both with and without cinematic lighting enabled, all time of day comparisons are captured at the same time of day and weather.

Part of my responsibilities as an Advanced Lighting Artist on this project was overseeing all cinematic lighting in the game which included reviewing and giving feedback to other artists.
I had the responsibility of taking many cinematics from first pass lighting to final shipping quality.

This was a collaborative effort involving the talents of multiple teams, such as Character Art, Audio, VFX, Rendering, Tech Art, QA and Design.
Credit to all the cinematics team on doing an incredible job in bringing these characters to life.
Credit to both Sean Ainsworth and Abelardo Polonio for feedback and direction.
